Revitalizing Alta Plaza’s Playground

Friends of Alta Plaza Park is pleased to announce that through our ongoing partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department the Friedman Family Playground in Alta Plaza will be undergoing a renovation and upgrade this year!

This will provide a much-needed refresh for this beloved and well-used play area and will be focused on new playground resurfacing and replacement and refurbishment of select play equipment as budget allows.

Recreation and Parks has secured approximately $600,000 in public funding for this project!

The Friends of Alta Plaza Park Board has decided that if we’re going to go to the effort, let’s increase the impact. When we combine legacy gifts already on hand with just a bit of fundraising, we can not only resurface the entire playground, but we can replace additional play structures badly in need of an update.

But time is of the essence. To hit deadlines that make construction possible in summer 2026, we must raise all funds by the end of January.

We are seeking to raise an additional $20,000 towards this project.
